Maria | Lilac Blooms

Maria incorporates the goddess Persephone for this shoot during the lilac blooms in the Arnold Arboretum in Boston. This is the most impromptu photoshoot I have ever done. While driving from one shoot to the Arnold Arboretum for another appointment, Maria texts me about an outfit made by her mom that she wants to shoot in. When she sends me the photo, I realize I have exactly one hour between shoots at the arboretum. Within 15 minutes of that text, we are already shooting.

The result is one of the softest photoshoots I have ever created. Collaborating with Maria always grants me the freedom and lack of pressure that often leads to some exceptional shots. Throughout the shoot, I kept visualizing the vision of Maria in this outfit as exactly what Hades must have seen when admiring Persephone before capturing her. The delicate lilac blooms, soft natural light, and Maria's serene presence came together to craft an image steeped in mythic beauty and emotion.
